BALING: The village is called Kampung Hangus (Burnt Village). On Wednesday, fire razed two houses in the village in Kupand, leaving its four inhabitants with just the clothes on their backs.
All were out when the fire broke out here on Wednesday night.
Som Awang Kechik, 69, and her neighbour Esah Idris, 73, who were in the mosque lost all their belongings, including their preparations for Hari Raya.
Som’s daughter Sabariah Ahmad, 48 and grandson Mohamad Akmal Abdullah, 15, were also not at home at the time.
Mohamad Akmal who will be sitting for the Penilaian Menengah Rendah examination next week lost all his books and school uniforms in the fire.
The fire is believed to have started from Esah’s house but the cause is still being investigated. – Bernama
